What is Colon Hydrotherapy?
Colon Hydrotherapy (also known as Colonic Irrigation) is a gentle, relaxing treatment carried out by a qualified RICTAT practitioner in a controlled environment. Water heated to room temperature is gently passed through the colon (large and small intestine) over a period of time via a small plastic disposable spectrum which is inserted into the rectum. The pressure of the flow of water is controlled by the practitioner. At some stages the entire colon is filled with water for up to 15 seconds and then released. This action triggers natural peristalsis allowing the water to be expelled along with faecal matter which may have been building up in the colon for weeks, months and often years also causing a build-up of toxins. In many cases the gentle introduction of water and abdominal massage carried out by the practitioner can help to stimulate the nerve and muscle actions of the colon to return to normal function.

How many treatments will I need?
This will depend on the severity and longevity of the condition being treated and also how your body reacts to the treatment. A course of three treatments initially is recommended. The first session will comprise an in-depth consultation with the practitioner a short treatment to introduce you to the method. When the first course of treatment is completed a monthly maintenance session is recommended.
